In a fairly amazing feat, 100-year-old Ruth Frith tossed a 9lb shot 14ft to win a gold medal at the World Masters Games yesterday – albeit uncontested due to lack of competition in her age group.

Still, this is nothing to turn your nose up at – in fact, the World Masters Games, held this year in Sydney Australia, is the largest multi-sport event in the world, with over 28,000 competitors ranging in age from 24-101.
