100 year old shot-putter at the World Masters Games
In a fairly amazing feat, 100-year-old Ruth Frith tossed a 9lb shot 14ft to win a gold medal at the World Masters Games
yesterday – albeit uncontested due to lack of competition in her age group.
Still, this is nothing to turn your nose up at – in fact, the World Masters Games, held this year in Sydney Australia, is the largest multi-sport event in the world, with over 28,000 competitors ranging in age from 24-101.

NETsational Dancers! NBA Team has all seniors hip hop dance crew.
Thought you had to be in your 20′s to drop it like it’s hot?
The New Jersey Nets have a 60+ dance crew that performs at select home games, showcasing their hiphop moves. And the crew now has a documentary out that follows them from audition to performance and the NBA’s first senior dance crew. You can see the trailer here.
Based on the reaction in this video, the crowd loves them.
Nova Scotia 55+ Games
The 3rd Nova Scotia 55+ Games are scheduled for Yarmouth the 24th – 27th of September, 2009.

“Like the Canada Senior Games Association (CSGA),our mission is to bring together individuals from across the province, aged 55+, to an event featuring games of both physical and mental challenges, and at the same time provide a venue emphasizing social interaction. Through bi-annual Nova Scotia 55+ Games, as well as support for any other like games at the Regional, Zone or community levels, the Society encourages a healthier and more active lifestyle for older adults in Nova Scotia”
